Corinne Lepage

Corinne Lepage is a renowned lawyer and French politician committed to environmental protection. With a doctorate in law and a degree from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, she was admitted to the bar in 1975.

Over the past forty years, Corinne Lepage has consistently worked in various capacities for the environment.

After holding local office in 1989, in 1995 she accepted Alain Juppé’s proposal and became Minister of the Environment until 1997. During her tenure, she championed the LAURE law project concerning air pollution and rational energy use. In 1997, due to her firm and sustained stance, she successfully halted the restart of the Superphénix nuclear reactor and initiated a moratorium on GMOs. She served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2014 and was the first vice-president of the European Parliament’s health and environment committee.

Following the establishment of the Cap 21 party in 2000, she founded and chaired the environmental party, the Citizen Rally – Cap 21, in 2014, which she still chairs today.

She has authored around thirty works on environmental law and general political essays, as well as those specifically addressing environmental issues. Additionally, she teaches courses on Climate Justice at Sciences Po Paris.
